Hiking Shuttle Schedule

HIKER PARKING SHUTTLE
& GARDEN PARKING LOT INFORMATION

Once again the Town of Keene will manage the Garden Parking Lot in Keene Valley in accordance with an Adopt a Resource Agreement with New York State Department of Conservation. The Town of Keene will also serve as operator of a public transportation system that will serve hikers and the general public.

This program was initiated in response to the illegal and unsafe parking that prevailed. The parking fees pay for attendants on weekends, winter snowplowing of the Garden, Roostercomb and Roaring Brook Parking Lots, portable toilets, information kiosk and donations of equipment for local search and rescue squads.

A sign at the corner of Market and Adirondack Streets will indicate when the Garden Lot is closed.

Commencing Friday, May 1st, a fee of $5.00 (Canadian @ current exchange rate) per day will be assessed for parking at the Garden Lot. The daily fee will continue through the month of October. An attendant will be at the Garden Lot from 1:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Fridays and from 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays during this period. Town Employees and DEC Rangers will monitor the lot during the week.

The shuttle will operate from the Southwest corner of Marcy Field, off Route 73, when the Garden Parking Lot is full, beginning with two Holiday Weekends in May, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, as follows:
Victoria Day Weekend - May 16th, 17th and 18th
Memorial Day Weekend - May 23rd, 24th and 25th

Shuttle operation will resume on Saturday, June 27th, operating on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays. October 18th will be the last day of operation. The shuttle will normally leave Marcy Field parking lot every ½ hour and on the hour.

The fee remains at $4.00 (Canadian @ current exchange rate) per person for a round trip. (5/2009)
